Marriage Story is an educational film, because it tells about emotional immaturity, lack of communication skills in the relationship in which it should be the basis, as well as how unknowingly one can use another person, digging oneself in one’s individual, egoistic world.
In the movie, the “de-aging” technology was used on actors for the first time (with such a momentum) in history of the cinema. This age manipulation is interesting not only because of the effects, but also because it corresponds with the subject of the film.
The series has meticulously built the psychological portrait of its characters for 5 seasons (Walter White’s long path to violence, Walter-Jesse relationship on the master-student axis, father-son, and these are, of course, only two examples from many), leading to a mastery of – it would seem – simple cause and effect narrative and a logical change slowly taking place inside the characters. Meanwhile, the film doesn’t have time for this.
One could get an impression that there are few “childhood films” that age as gently as Dark Crystal. As I return to it after years, it still suprises, draws my attention and scares me. And what is more important – the world is still alive.
It was probably only a matter of time before an interactive movie appeared on one of big streaming platforms. The online environment seems to be ideal for interaction with the viewer, who will decide the hero’s fate with one click.
The ability to be moved in the cinema has a ratio inversely proportional to the number of movies watched and one’s experience. The effectiveness of the image in this area does not necessarily mean that we are dealing with a masterpiece, but every tear shed in a dark room full of unknown people is a special moment. Therefore, instead of classic summary of the year, I serve you a list of my ten emotions.
